The wear models according to Fleischer and Archard can be used in COMBROS R (see FVA 933 I, transient plain bearing operating behavior).

According to Fleischer, the wear volume VW is obtained as the quotient of the total solid friction work WR and the wear-specific friction work eR*. The local wear height hw, which is included as an additional term in the local lubrication gap height, is in turn calculated as the quotient of VW and the respective control volume area ΔA. The frictional shear stresses τc in turn result from the friction coefficient μ and the previously determined solid contact pressure pc.

Archard's formula has a similar formal structure, with the quotient of friction coefficient and specific wear work replaced by the quotient of wear coefficient according to Archard k* and material hardness H.
