The transverse load factor KHα considers the effect of uneven force distribution on multiple simultaneously engaged gear pairs.
The factor is defined as:
The ratio of the maximum force occurring in the engagement of a real pair of gears at a speed approaching 0 to the corresponding maximum tooth force of a deviation-free gear pair.
KHα can be determined in two different ways:
Direct specification (can be determined, for example, by measuring the maximum tooth forces)
Here, it is assumed that the average probable difference of the base pitches of the pinion and gear is decisive for the force distribution between multiple simultaneously meshed gear pairs.
