Selection of the type of lubrication:
- Oil injection lubrication
- Oil-air lubrication
- Oil bath lubrication
- Grease lubrication
This information is included in the calculation of the bearing friction moment.

Short description of FVA research project 38
The goal of this research project is to develop an improved calculation test method, based on a comprehensive test program, to determine the friction moment of rolling bearings with line contact, depending on different speeds, oil temperatures, and thus lubricant viscosities, various lubricant types, rib geometries, and sizes. Cylindrical, needle, spherical, and tapered roller bearings have been tested. Oil bath lubrication with varying oil levels is used as the lubrication type; however, reservoir lubrication, and therefore a controlled inlet and outlet of the oil with different oil levels, will be attempted in random experiments.
