Note: The deviation of the offset follows the convention of the positive and negative center distance, and thus is dependent on the spiral angle of the crown wheel. The Klingelnberg convention differs from the Gleason convention in that it is independent of the spiral angle of the crown wheel. The increase of the center distance shown in the figure above corresponds to a positive deviation of the offset V. Displacement in the opposite direction corresponds to a negative deviation of the axis displacement V.
